What is World Wildlife Day?
UN World Wildlife Day (WWD) celebrates and raises awareness of the world’s vibrant and wild animal and plant life. WWD 2022's theme is “Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration”.
According to data from the IUCN, over 8,400 species of wild fauna and flora are critically endangered, while almost 30,000 more are understood to be endangered or vulnerable. These estimates suggest that over a million species are threatened with extinction.
Loss of species, habitats, and ecosystems threatens all life on Earth, including us humans at Turtl. WWD 2022 seeks to draw attention to the conservation status of some of the most critically endangered species of wild fauna and flora, and to drive discussions imagining and implementing solutions to conserve them.
