Senior Creative Executive, Maintel
We caught up with Dannielle Cross, Senior Creative Executive at Maintel on expanding Turtl use cases during the pandemic, getting the most out of analytics, and achieving Turtl user of the month twice.
I was! It was when we had just launched our newsletter, so it was a great way to show it off and launch it. I'm over the moon to be invited again! I absolutely love Turtl. Every person I've met on the team has been so lovely, I just think the company is brilliant, and I love the product.
It's evolved a lot! We've started using it quite often for content syndication pieces which is really useful. We're also using it more often, especially because of the pandemic, for event wrap-ups. In December last year, we re-ran our webinar program using Turtl. Our messaging is across three core pillars - digital workplace, customer experience, and secure connectivity - and we used Turtl to make a different section for each where you could register and watch videos on demand.
We're also using Turtl a lot for our case studies, which is working great. Over time, we saw that when we included case study Turtls in our newsletter, they were consistently our top performer. That's really interesting and encouraging.
Completely. We started looking at UTM tracking in the summer last year, and it's been really helpful. We can see who is reading our newsletters, who's coming from social, who's coming from email, and adjusting for that.
Over the last year or so, our newsletters have been our most popular way of using Turtl, and we've been monitoring analytics closely to tailor our content to be really relevant to what our readers need. One thing that we're really proud of is that our numbers stay consistent and our drop-off numbers are low. So people are going in, interacting with the content, and reading it to the end. That's really promising, and we're hoping to build on that over time, but it's still fairly new to us, so we're still experimenting.
I love that you can use the pinning feature and the columns to scale the graphics as big as you need them to be. The grid is also really helpful. One thing that I love about Turtl is everything always looks nice and consistent because everything's so easy to use. Feature boxes also give us the flexibility to make our designs look different.
We have set templates for our case studies, newsletters, whitepapers, and webinar wrap-ups. Instead of spending loads of time thinking about what design to do next, which is half the struggle as a Senior Creative Exec, it's really nice to know that the template is sorted, and it's just a case of switching the images and changing the text around.
Have fun with it! Whether you're an experienced designer or have no design experience, it's such an easy tool, and everything's safe to play with because it's templated. You know that it's going to be very brand-compliant and well received by anyone who looks at it. My main advice would be to just get stuck in and see what works for you. Play around with the design elements and just have fun.
