Which analytics do you use the most?
Alice: I’m most concerned about whether people get to the end of the content or whether they drop out. That can inform a lot of what we do in the future. Is our content too long? Do we need to keep our readers more engaged? If we put something that’s more interesting near the end, do we need to move it forwards?
So for me, that’s the one I always look at, maybe even before views sometimes. It’s fine getting loads of views, but if 60% drop off after the first page, it’s pointless.
Melanie: It’s also useful to look at the signups. How many people fill in a form and how many readers bounce away from the content are useful metrics to know.
