Turtl brought clarity to complexity with easy-to-use design tools and in-depth analytics

Easily accessible creativity

Tim recalls being at a charity conference where he got a little toy turtle from Turtl. Describing it as “a marketing gimmick that worked”, Tim took the toy home. The rest, as they say, is history.

After initially using Turtl for annual reports, Tim realized how useful Turtl was and started looking at other ways to use Turtl within the business.

Today, the primary use of Turtl is for internal communications, keeping everyone in the business up to date on what the international office is up to.

People within The Leprosy Mission work around the world. As a result, even though they are technically internal communications, they are still read by a large, high-value audience.

In addition, Turtl is used for some external communications, including with individuals in the charity sector and within worldwide public health services. Tim explains: “I use Turtl Docs to communicate more complex things.”

Turtl doesn’t help you to save time. It helps you to optimize your time.

Imagery

With Turtl, Tim's team are confident The Leprosy Mission's materials will look good, finding it easy to create eye-catching layouts. Tim says, "You enter your copy and insert a huge image, full of color, and it instantly looks so much nicer than in an A4 PDF.”

Images at The Leprosy Mission are often uplifting. Turtl's capacity for large imagery allows Tim to bring in a beaming face from the other side of the world and instantly create a positive, elevated vibe.

The team feels that by being able to fill the screen with an image, it gives pictures the space needed to communicate the message they want to get across. Tim says, "Canva just doesn't do the job Turtl does!”

Design

Tim is certain that being able to pre-set the functions for every user in the Turtl editor makes it hard to go wrong when making content.

There is a rigidity to the way teams design on Turtl. The in-built structure prevents users from messing up core elements like brand guidelines and format clarity - keeping things simple.

Being able to click on a section to watch a YouTube video or expand a graph for more information, Tim enjoys making exactly what he needs with Turtl, without relying on anyone else.

You can enter your copy and add an image with ease. There are enough tools for you to get a bit of brand variety, but not so many that you risk messing it up.”

Analytics and data

Currently, direct results of Turtl are not measured by outcomes such as increased fundraising. However, if this were to change, Tim is confident Turtl could allow them to measure this.

Tim is also certain there are other levels of analytics, including personalization elements of Turtl, that he simply hasn’t had the time to tap into yet and looks forward to doing so in future.

People are reading articles in Turtl for four or five minutes on average. It’s impressive! It tells me people are sitting and reading what we put out there.

Tim is happy to spend time researching and writing long-form content because he is confident people will read it. Admitting it would be disheartening if he had no idea if people were reading his content, Turtl's analytics give Tim insight and motivation.

With Turtl, you can see how long people spend reading your content. Tim's team saw that people watched 80-90% of embedded videos and their polls received lots of responses. Tim says, "It is all really encouraging."
