What is Turtl and how does it work?
Turtl allows marketers to easily create, publish and measure beautiful interactive content across all devices and channels.
A unique format
To understand the design behind Turtl, it's worth taking a quick look at how our brains are wired to read:
- 90% of the information processed by the brain is visual
- Only 10% of text content is recalled after three days
- This rises to 65% when paired with an image
- Providing interaction increases content effectiveness
So it's clear that our brains retain information much better if presented in an interactive and visual way. This is where our unique "Surf and Immerse" design comes in by allowing the reader to "Surf" visually across content before "Immersing" for deeper information.
Surf pages work as chapter headings to break your content up into sections. Highly visual and light on text, Surf pages are designed to grab your readers' attention.
The first Surf page acts as the front cover for your content and is the first thing your reader sees - all other Surf levels work as tasters for the content that lies in the Immerse level below.

Immerse pages are where the bulk of your content lives and are made up of text, visual and interactive content to keep your audience engaged, from polls and videos to shareable quotes.
Adding visual interest to Immerse pages is easy with multi column layout options, feature boxes and other elements to keep your audience entertained and reading for longer.
Sharing your cloud based content is crucial to its performance and Turtl provides tools that enable you to easily push out your story to your audience via email, social media or on your website.
Turtl's smart analytics interface allows you to access key performance metrics and insights in real time. Access aggregated data on reader source, engagement levels and conversions.
Using our lead capture feature you'll be able to gather contact details for readers that are already engaged in the content. You can then use this data to follow individual reader journeys.
This granular level of insight provides you with the ability to truly measure content performance. Your content can then be updated in real time to ensure optimum perfomance.

Learn how to grab your readers' attention with stunning visuals
We’ve designed Surf pages to quickly and easily create the strong visual hook you need to capture your readers' attention.
Surf pages act as introductions for your Immerse levels (where your main content lives) and allow you to divide your story into sections.
This allows your readers to move easily between the topics in your Story before deciding when and where to delve down into the immersive content via a simple click.
First impressions count
Your front cover is the first page your audience will see, so it's all about grabbing attention in a moment. There are two main components to an effective Surf page:
1. The image
This is really important as it’s the first thing your reader will engage with. It needs to be:
- Eye catching
- Relevant (but not necessarily literal)
- High resolution
2. The heading
This should be descriptive, catchy and to the point.
All you have to do is type into the Heading box and choose where you want to position your heading.
Tip: Ask yourself: If you read this would you be intrigued enough to click through to read more?
Keeping your readers engaged
A deeper dive
Immerse pages are where your deeper content lives. Keep your readers engaged with interactive, visually appealing content.
Create visual interest with multi column layout and image edit features. These help make each page exciting.
Create engagement with shareable quotes, interactive polls and video.
Turtl's performance analytics platform enables you to identify reader conversion and interaction right the way through your story.
Putting your content together
The layout of your content will largely depend on the type of Story you’re creating and the elements you plan to include, but we've highlighted the main components of your Turtl content:
Tip: The use of the Heading and Positioning are completely optional, just leave boxes blank to remove them.
Turtl provides you with many different text formatting options to ensure that you can use a variety of heading and copy sizes, formatting such as bold or italic and various types of lists. These can all be accessed via the top left hand corner of the immerse editor.
Turtl hosts a great mix of features to ensure your readers stay engaged. From zoomable images, video and social sharing to polls, all within a varied column layout.
Turtl makes it super easy to create a truly interactive story.
Using a mixture of layout (1,2,3 or 4 columns) as well as a combination of pinned elements, your content will always look professional and streamlined.
Capture reader contact details at any stage in your story. We advise you do this mid-story once your audience is already hooked, keen to read on and so much more likely to share details.
Thank you pages
Saying 'Goodbye' in style
The back cover is the final page of your story and is a great chance to get readers to take action.
The page is divided into two sections:
- Your Goodbye Greeting
- Lead capture form
Firstly, it's always nice to say 'Thank you'! but you're also providing a final opportunity for readers to share the content now they have come to the end.
You'll have the ability to tailor your message, provide your website link to drive further click through to whichever landing page you choose, and a chance to tailor a CTA (call to action).
Tip: If you have already used Turtl's lead capture feature within your story, or you feel it's not relevant to include one at all, you are able to omit a CTA and just say thank you.

Sharing your content
Delivering content to the right audience, in the right place and at the right time is critical to effectiveness. That's why we've developed a full range of flexible publishing and sharing tools.

With Turtl, content is as easy to share with your target audience as it is to create.
Turtl will automatically display a title, description and cover image for your stories whenever they are shared on social media. And within the stories themselves you can easily create quotes and soundbites that can be individually pushed out with a simple click of a button on your chosen platforms.
Easily add stories to any page of your website by embedding them or draw readers into your content using our animated website teasers.
Embed an animated gif on your website that turns into a lightbox when clicked by just copying and pasting a bit of code (provided by us) in your CMS.
